Product description
Acidic Membrane Cleaner
Application
Genesol 38 is highly effective when used as a 3-4% solution and alternately soaked and recycled through the membrane system for 1-2 hours. When using Genesol 38, the cleaning solution pH will stabilise at pH 3.7. If the pH increases above pH 4.2 during the cleaning process, the solution should be discarded and replaced with a fresh solution. It is recommended that the membranes be cleaned at 25-30ºC. Membrane manufacturer’s guidelines should be followed at all times. After cleaning, Genesol 38 cleaning solutions should be neutralised to pH 6-8 with an alkaline solution before discharge, as the presence of low pH solutions can be damaging to concrete and cement-lined discharge pipes. Before returning the plant to service, the membrane system should be thoroughly flushed, until the pH values of the feed and the discharge ends of the system are the same. The product water conductivity may initially be high but will revert to normal after a few hours of operation. Genesol 38 can be diluted and is fully miscible with water in all proportions.
Health and Safety
Genesol 38 is an aqueous solution of stabilised ammoniated citric acid combined with a non-ionic biodispersant that is classified as non-toxic. It is corrosive to carbon steel therefore all chemical tanks, pumps and pipework must be made from acid-resistant materials. A material safety data sheet is available on request.
